Mylène Chamblain is a French singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer based in Belgium. Built for the live stage, her music moves freely between Americana, Blues, Rock & Folk, with even a touch of Pop-Rock influence.Combining raw authenticity, musical power and emotional depth, she has developed a distinctive sound and artistic identity that feels both timeless and contemporary.
80's — The Early Years
Born in 1980 in Évry, France, Mylène Chamblain, formerly known by her stage name Mylène L. Chamblain, began writing songs and singing at the age of 13. She grew up in the Essonne region, just south of Paris, and from an early age was immersed in concert venues, stages and backstage life, surrounded by a family deeply involved in the performing arts. Together with her mother and stepfather Christian Chamblain, a theatre director, actor and musician — whose surname she would officially adopt several years later — Mylène became involved in the artistic world from a very young age. In 1984, her parents founded and ran the cultural association Produc’Scène, producing numerous musical shows, theatre productions and cultural festivals in the Courcouronnes, Évry and Ris-Orangis area. Through the association’s own company of actors, dancers and musicians, Mylène was soon given her own place within these productions, performing as a young singer and actress in several musicals produced by her father until the mid-1990s.
90's — Blues, Roots & Her first Rock Experiences
With a stepfather who was also a guitarist, washboard player and builder of his own washtub bass, Mylène was introduced at an early age to the music that would later form the foundations of her artistic identity: Roots Blues, Chicago Blues, Delta Blues, 70s Rock and French chanson. Through the repertoire performed by her stepfather’s band, she discovered artists such as Beau Dommage, Eddy Mitchell and Alain Souchon. She also came closer to the Blues by accompanying her father to concerts by Jean-Jacques Milteau, Paul Personne and other major figures from the French and Anglo-American music scenes. Then came Rock. At 14, she attended a Rolling Stones concert at the Longchamp racecourse in Paris, standing in the second row. An experience that would leave a lasting mark on her relationship with the stage and the energy of live performance.
00's — The Toulouse Years — First Shows & First Album
When her family moved to Toulouse, Mylène began performing her first public shows and continued developing her musical path. At 24, she completed her first album, which she had begun writing in the United States, and recorded Hold Fast (2004). She subsequently took the album to England for a seven-day tour. Produced with Bernard Sellam and Stéphane Bertolino (AWEK) and recorded in Toulouse by Roger Shepherd (EMI Glasgow), the album led to performances at numerous festivals in France, Belgium and Lithuania. This first international experience laid the foundations for an independent career built around live performance, travel and roots music.
From France To Belgium
After several years working different jobs while keeping music quietly alive in the background, Mylène reconnected with her childhood sweetheart and naturally followed her personal story to Belgium. She became the mother of Romy in 2009, and at that point chose to prioritize greater financial stability for her family life. She returned to education, studying forestry management, became involved in projects led by the Walloon association Patrimoine Nature, and in 2014 joined Natagora, Belgium’s largest NGO dedicated to nature conservation.
2008 / 2018 — The Break
Between 2008 and 2018, Mylène chose to focus on her family life and on building a stable professional career. Yet this period remained connected to her artistic journey. Her work at Natagora opened up new perspectives and gradually brought her back to a realization she could no longer ignore: she missed music, and music was still a part of who she was. After the end of a contract, several years devoted to personal and family projects, and a period that had demanded a great deal of energy from her, Mylène decided to return to her artistic path. She left Brussels, where she had lived from 2014 to 2019, and moved to the green hills of the Liège region. A few months earlier, she had already begun meeting new musicians for her project, including drummer Raphaël Piré. She also met Julie Compagnon, with whom she developed a collaboration that would eventually lead to the Belgian project Plain Jane. Mylène contributed to the songwriting for their first EP. At the same time, she was writing songs for her own project and working on Body & Soul. It was during this period that she met producer Cyril Orcel, who became her music producer and has continued to accompany the development of her sound and artistic identity ever since.
Stronger Than Ever : Music
In 2018, Mylène fully returned to music with renewed inspiration and a stronger artistic identity. Her EP Body & Soul (2021) received strong support from Classic 21 – RTBF, helping her music reach a wider audience. She began developing an artistic universe deeply rooted in Roots music, Blues Rock and Americana, while continuing her work as a songwriter and her various collaborations. In 2023, she performed at the Classic 21 Festival, sharing the bill with artists including Ghalia Volt, Boogie Beasts, Sharko and K’s Choice. She continued to expand her live career, including opening for the Scottish band Big Country, as well as for Beverly Jo Scott.
Drive Me Mad — 2025
With Drive Me Mad (2025), her second album, Mylène further defined her artistic direction. Americana, Blues Rock, Folk and Rock come together through modern production and deeply personal songwriting. The album has reached audiences in Belgium, France, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States, while Mylène continues to perform solo, as a duo and with her full band across Belgium and France. Her live journey has expanded through numerous Blues, Rock, Americana and Country festivals and venues, further establishing an artistic identity created first and foremost for the stage.
Wild Echo — Stories Of A Rambling Woman
Today, Mylène Chamblain is preparing WILD ECHO, her third studio album, due in autumn 2026. More than just a new album, WILD ECHO is a state of mind. A project built around freedom, resilience, movement and the need to carve out your own path. Inspired by long journeys, departures, human connections and the echoes left behind by every road travelled, WILD ECHO continues her search for music that is free, organic and deeply human.
