Like a reflection in a glass of whiskey, One Life answers the previous single, The Shadows We Bear, released in April 2026. The two songs mirror one another, complement one another, and tell the same story through two different lights: one nocturnal and introspective, the other sun-drenched, instinctive, and unapologetically free.

Composed and produced this time by Cyril Orcel, Mylène Chamblain’s longtime collaborator and a trusted creative partner for the past six years, the track was born from a relationship built on inspiration and deep mutual confidence. Although Mylène Chamblain has always written and composed her own material, Orcel—better known for his work as an orchestrator and arranger—naturally wanted to compose specifically for her. The result is a rock track built for the stage and perfectly suited to an artist who has truly earned her reputation as a “beast on stage.” One Life also carries the same energy as “It Drives Me Mad,” re-arranged in 2025 for her album Drive Me Mad, released that same year. A song Mylène has been carrying with her for years, it has become one of her signature live tracks, often requested by audiences toward the end of a concert when it is missing from the set. Could One Life become the “It Drives Me Mad” of her next album, currently in production.
 

As co-arranger of the track and author of the lyrics, Mylène Chamblain makes her mark from the very first seconds. The song opens with a riff played in unison by Mylène Chamblain and Fabrice Manzini, whose guitar work immediately gives the track its drive, tension, and unmistakable sonic signature. Onstage, Mylène naturally picks up the motif, letting it interact with Fabrice’s guitar or playing it in unison with him—a musical chemistry that carries the energy of the recording straight into the live performance.
 

Blending timeless Motown grooves, the raw energy of ’80s rock, and the wide-open spaces of contemporary Americana, One Life rides on a riff that is as irresistible as it is evocative. It carries something of the confidence and swagger of Tina Turner’s “Steamy Windows,” along with the spirit of those songs that make you want to drive for hours with the windows down, with no destination other than the horizon.

The visual world takes shape almost instantly: an old motel glowing beneath a tired neon sign, a bar where the music keeps playing until the early hours, bottles rolling across a wooden floor, a flowering cactus, coyotes answering the warm night air, a blazing sun, and clouds of dust left in the wake of a beautiful Harley-Davidson Electra Glide or a vintage Shelby Mustang GT500.
 

One Life is a road movie condensed into a few minutes, where every image becomes a symbol of hard-won freedom. For years, Mylène Chamblain has embraced the spirit of Rock’n’Love—a way of inhabiting music with sincerity, power, and femininity. One Life may well be its brightest expression yet.
